This planar transformer has its windings etched or pressed onto the PCB (printed circuit board), combined with a flat ferrite core, which significantly shortens the magnetic path length, reduces copper loss and iron loss. This planar transformer adopts a flattened design, with a volume of 1/3 to 1/5 of that of traditional transformers, and the weight is reduced by more than 50%, suitable for the small internal space of equipment. The windings of the planar transformer are wide and thin copper foils, which effectively increase the surface area and greatly reduce the influence of skin effect, making it very suitable for high-frequency (hundreds of kHz to MHz level) switching power supplies.
